At Ocean Beaches Glassblowing, we believe that art can be a powerful way to remember and celebrate those we've lost. Our memorial glass pieces are a heartfelt way to keep your loved one close, transforming a small amount of ash into a timeless work of art.
Each piece is handcrafted by our in-house glassblower, Amanda, who thoughtfully encases the ashes within layers of clear and colored glass. With care, skill, and deep respect for the process, Amanda creates custom memorial glass in a variety of forms, each offering a unique way to honor a life.
We offer several styles of memorial glass art:
Solid glass spheres with ash encased inside. Available in two sizes:
– 3.5" diameter
– 2.5" diameter
Choose from three color densities:
– Wispy: A light swirl of color
– Regular: A balanced, medium tone
– Dense: Rich, saturated color throughout
Example Memorial Orb: 3.5" Regular Amount of Color, Martha's Color Mix.
A solid glass heart, roughly 3"–4" across, encasing ash in a vibrant display of your chosen colors.
Example Memorial Heart: Purple and blue.
A hollow, blown-glass float with ash beautifully suspended between layers of glass. Available in 4", 5", and 6" diameters.
Example Memorial Float: Ash in glass, 6" in diameter, Martha's Color Mix.
This version is crafted without ash in the glass. The piece is left open, allowing you to fill it later—much like a traditional urn. Available in 4", 5", and 6" diameters.
A tall, elegant vessel designed to hold ashes. The glass is not infused with ash, but the urn remains open to be filled and sealed. Each comes with a handcrafted round glass topper.
We offer professional fill-and-seal services for both the Memorial Float (No Ash) and Memorial Urn for an additional fee.
All memorial pieces are customizable in color. You may select from our curated float color mixes—visible in the Shopping section of our website—or visit our gallery in person to explore options firsthand. If you already have a vision, you’re welcome to suggest 2–3 colors you'd like incorporated.
We understand that not everyone can visit us in person. If you're ordering from a distance, please use our Contact Form to start the process. We'll coordinate with you via email to finalize the details.
We require only a small amount of ash—between a teaspoon and a tablespoon per piece. Any unused ash will be respectfully returned to you. Alternatively, we offer a complimentary service to scatter leftover ash in the ocean at our local beach.
Please note: ashes must be shipped via USPS, following their cremated remains regulations. This includes using specific labeling and overnight mailing. We’ll guide you through the process if you’re unsure.
Creating a memorial piece is a deeply personal experience, and we’re here to make it as meaningful and smooth as possible. If you have any questions about the process, materials, shipping, or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Let us help you create something lasting—an everyday reminder of the love that continues.
